About Kristy
Kristy couldn't believe her luck back in 2001 when she heard about the Chinese Medicine school in town and realized this fantastic collection of all her hobbies could actually become her job! From a young age she was always interested in herbalism, martial arts, and health and wellness, and felt a deep connection with the classical theories that form the foundation that Chinese Medicine is based upon. She began the 4 year program and the rest is history. She enrolled in school without even having tried acupuncture yet, assuming she would be focused on herbal medicine, but very quickly she fell in love with acupuncture when she saw the amazing results in the student clinic. Kristy has always been sensitive (*cough* needle phobic *cough*) so she was drawn towards very gentle styles of treatment and high quality needles that provide painless insertion. This quest led her to Japanese Acupuncture. She began a program specifically to learn Japanese Acupuncture styles back in 2005, and now, 20 years later she has never veered from that path, endeavoring to learn more and more ways she can improve her treatments and technique to benefit her patients. These days she primarily uses Kiiko Matsumoto Style acupuncture but draws from much more than that throughout the course of a treatment.
Kristy's many years of Qigong cultivation and study with her teacher Master ZhongXian Wu have given her additional insight into creating harmony within her own body, and those of her patients, but also with the environment around us. The body has it's own internal landscape that can be tended with care for optimal health and wellness.

In addition to these interests, Kristy has also endeavoured to learn to read Classical Chinese so she can glean words of wisdom directly from the historical sources. She is a student of Dr. Sabine Wilms, a translator and medical historian. Kristy has just completed a 2 year program learning to read and translate Classical chinese medical and philosophical texts.

In her life outside the Chinese Medical sphere, Kristy enjoys gardening, Chinese brush painting and calligraphy, tea appreciation, dancing and yoga, and spending time with her husband and 2 beautiful children in Victoria BC
